Walk Name Heeley to Attercliffe: inner-city Sheffield Walk
Description This walk is approx. a third of the Inner City Sheffield Walk devised by
distinguished Rambler, Terry Howard.
It will finish so we can seek refreshments in the Carlton Freehouse on
Attercliffe Rd with its beautiful beer garden, and then folks can catch a
trams, bus or an Uber to wherever
The first third of the walk, Shalesmoor to Heeley, will be on 18th July,
and the last third of the walk, Attercliffe to Shalesmoor, will be on 8th
August
This part of the Inner City Walk takes us from Heeley Bottom up
through Meersbrook Park to Heeley Green. The route crosses Heeley
Common to go down to East Bank Rd and then climbs up to
Arbourthorne Lookout and down again through Manor Park to touch on
Darnall and finish at Attercliffe tram stop.
The whole walk is a circuit of the inner city, on pavements and paths,
through parks & ancient woodlands, past historical sites and sights,
and by housing, allotments & factories. There are some steps and
stairs, and short steep bits (both up and down) and the entire walk
crosses the Don (twice), and the Sheaf & Porter Brook.
