Route: Two steep-ish ascents on this walk, a short one to the top of Oaker Hill for the trig point and coffee stop and a longer ascent out of Matlock to Town Head of Bonsall, nothing really challenging.
We head west out of the car park and take the path heading for Painters Way Farm and Great Close then into Clough Wood. We pick up Oldfield Lane for a short stretch then take a right into the wood which brings us out into the top end of Darley Bridge and this is where we head up the hill for a coffee break. We walk the length of the hill and drop down to join the river path and head for Matlock.
We take the Limestone Way out of Matlock till we get to Town Head in Bonsall and we keep to the high ground making our way Moorlands Lane and Blakelow Lane and back onto the Limestone Way and into Winster.

Route: From Heatherdene car park we cross the bridge over Ladybower Reservoir and then there is a steady climb (about an hour) to the top of Win Hill where we will stop for coffee. We then continue on to Hope Cross before a steep and woody descent back to the side of the reservoir. The final 3 miles are by the side of Ladybower. We will stop either at Hope Cross or beside Ladybower for lunch.

Start Point Location: Heatherdene pay and display car park on A6013 at Ladybower. The car park is located close to the junction of the A57 and the A6013. If coming from the A57 the car park is on your left after the bridge. If coming from Bamford the car park is on your right just before the bridge. Free but limited parking on the A6013.

Cross the A515 to get onto the Pennine Bridleway heading for Pomeroy and head for the Midshires Way/Highstood Lane to Chelmorton.
Short sharp ascent out of the village and up onto Taddington Moor/Moor Lane and then Whitefield Lane then head South to Rockfield House and head for Flagg. Cross fields and head for Blackwell Lane and back into Monyash.
No real hills today but it isn't flat, nothing difficult just a few lanes to walk along but are not busy with traffic.

Route: Not so much a walk, more an excursion. We start by catching the 65 bus at 9.35am and after a lovely scenic tour we get off at Millers Dale just before 11. We’ll follow the Limestone way which goes above Monks Dale before it drops down to walk through Peter Dale and Hay Dale. We’ll branch off through Dam Dale and Peak Forest and then turn east to climb back up to the Limestone Way and a trig point with a grand view. From there we will drop down to Castleton (avoiding paths with slippy, wet limestone).

We’ll catch the 272 back to Sheffield. I guess we will catch the 6pm bus. If we have time we can take refreshments in the Peak Hotel opposite the bus stop.

Route: The walk will be from Bempton to Filey along the clifftop coastal path and along the beach from Speeton Cliffs calling in at RSPB Bempton Cliffs on the way.

There is a direct train from Sheffield at 08:57, calling at Meadowhall (09:03), arriving at Bempton at 11:09. There is free parking at Meadowhall Travel Interchange. I will getting on the train at Meadowhall. The return trains from Filey are every hour e.g 17:17, 18:17, 19:15, 20:17

Fares are available for advance booking either for specific trains or Off-peak day return or Anytime Day Return. It would be best to book a Sheffield - Filey return even if getting on at Meadowhall and a Railcard would be advantageous.

It is a short walk (1 1/2 miles) from Bempton to Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve). Most seabirds will have flown away out to sea for the winter but there should be Gannets. We will spend a short time at Bempton Cliffs and have lunch there. There is a cafe doing snacks and sandwiches if you don’t wish to take a packed lunch. After lunch the walk continues along the cliff top coastal path (3 miles) and then drops down to the beach at Speeton Cliffs and continues along the beach (4 miles) to Filey. Low tide is at 1:45 pm and High tide is at 7:45 pm so it should be possible to walk along the beach. There are toilets at Hunmanby Gap and Filey promenade. There should be time for Fish and Chips and a beer or two in Filey before the train home. There are direct trains back to Sheffield - the return journey is about 2 hours 20 min).

We’ll walk on to Cresswell station and catch a train to Worksop, take some refreshment in The Mallard (the station tap) if we have time, then catch a train back to Sheffield for some final refreshment at the Sheffield Tap. After crossing the road B6054 we cross Totley Moss and head for the trig point and after we head for the track Moss Road and Wimble Holme Hill and head down onto Totley Moor and the car park on Hathersage Road. Walk through Blacka Moor Woods and after a short while cross the main road onto Houndkirk Moor and pick up Houndkirk Road back to The Fox House pub.

Route: This walk goes from Totley up hill and down dale to the pretty Millthorpe Valley to see Edward Carpenter’s house, where he grew crops, made sandals, wrote, entertained and networked with authors, politicians, activists, and lived as a couple with his lover, George Merrill, for nigh on 25yrs.
The return route goes past the grave of George Hukin, Carpenter’s true love, at Holmesfield, and past St George’s Farm, Totley. Carpenter had been asked by the owner of the farm, John Ruskin, if he would keep an eye on his tenants, the “Sheffield communists”.

Route: Take the Sheffield to Langley Mill train (10.06 SHF, 10.16 DRO,10.22 CHD, arr 10.40 at LGM), then walk through N Notts farmland to DH Lawrence houses & museum in Eastwood along some country lanes where Lawrence walked. There’ll be time to visit the house and the museum and there’s picnic tables and a cafe at the DH Lawrence museum. In the afternoon we walk along two C18th canals and over the Erewash river & the Bennerley Viaduct (Nottinghamshire's very own C19th wonder of the world) to Ilkeston station. Catch a return train to the stop where you got on - I’ll be taking a final refresher in the Sheffield Tap.
It's nigh on 16 km/10 miles with two small hills; the rest is flat: proper excursion and day out. Return on trains around 5pm.

Route: From the car park we walk up to and across Cales Dale and reach near the top of Latkkill Dale. The Dale is one of the finest in the Peak District and at the present time is especially nice. The ground has finally dried out but there is still plenty of water in the river and the “waterfall” looks quite wonderful. We then wander down the dale and work our way back.

Ascent, not much and mostly near the start.

Route: The walk will be from Bempton to Filey, starting around 10:10. There may be some leeway if you are leaving a car at Filey and getting a train back to Bempton. Map ref for Bempton Railway Station TA190718
You could drive and park at Bempton or Filey and possibly share the ride. It is about 2 hours from the eastern side of Sheffield (M1) to Filey. I will be taking the train, which stops at Bempton and returns from Filey. There is a direct train from Sheffield on Saturday 29th June at 07:57, calling at Meadowhall (08:03), arriving at Bempton at 10:09. There is free parking at Meadowhall Travel Interchange. It is a short walk (1 1/2 miles) from Bempton to Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve). There will be Gannets, Kittiwakes, Guillemots, Razorbills and possibly some Puffins. The seabirds will be nesting and there should be fledglings. We will spend an hour or two at Bempton Cliffs and have lunch there.
There is a cafe doing snacks and sandwiches if you don’t wish to take a packed lunch. After lunch the walk continues along the cliff top coastal path (3 miles) and then drops down to the beach at Speeton Cliffs and continues along the beach (4 miles) to Filey. High tide is at 10:40 and low tide at 17:20 so the tide will be going out and won’t be an issue. There is cafe and toilets at Hunmanby Gap. There is plenty of choice for refreshments / Fish and Chips in Filey before the train home.
There are direct rains back to Sheffield every hour (e.g. 17:17, 18:17, 19:17 - the return journey is about 2 hours 20 min).
This walk is not suitable for dogs.

There will be time to view the seabirds at the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs. Binoculars are recommended. The seabirds will be nesting and fledglings should have hatched. The seabirds will include Gannets, Kittiwakes, Guillemots, Razorbills, Fulmars and possibly Puffins (not easy to spot as they nest in burrows in the grass banks at the top of the cliffs).

If you are going by car - there is no parking at Bempton Railway Station and very limited parking on side roads as the roads at Bempton are very narrow. There is more parking on the B1229 half a mile towards Buckton where the road widens.
If you are leaving a car at Filey there is a 09:16 train from Filey arriving at Bempton at 09:30 (Please let me know if you are taking this option). It is about 2 hours from the eastern side of Sheffield (M1) to Filey via the M18, M62, A614. There are roadworks on the viaduct near Howden. Be aware of speed cameras at Howden and various points onwards. If you are going by train - the cheapest option is an advance open return from Sheffield to Filey. There is free parking at Meadowhall Travel Interchange. I will taking the train at Meadowhall.

Route: It's back! And it's even better. Shatton-Bradwell Edge-Offerton-Leadmill-Hathersage. Then back to Sickleholme via Thorpe Farm and the golf course. Quite a bit of climb in the first half then it settles down a bit. Jelly Babies at the top, Bassetts none of that generic rubbish. Gradually the stunning view over Bradwell and Abney is replaced by another great view over The Valley of Hope. Then the whole shebang is replaced by stunning views over the pub beer garden.

Start Point Location: Mytham Bridge road nr Bamford Station Bus Turnaround, off Station Road, Sickleholme Bamford. Park at the far end of road but please don't obstruct driveways.
On A6013 heading south from Bamford, Mytham Bridge road leads off to the right, near the bus turning circle (between Bamford railway bridge and A6187 Hathersage to Castleton road traffic lights). Proceed to its end.
Overflow parking available in Bamford Station CP but we are not likely to need it as Mytham Bridge has quite a lot of spaces.

Route: Heading West out of the village we go up a short steep bank. Pick up a lane down to flat fields and head West to Ballidon. Another short hill to go up and then across fields heading for the B5056 which we cross to get onto Pasture Lane which is a steady up hill. Taking the path at the top we cross fields till we meet the road and then head North to Peak Quarry Farm and pick up The High Peak trail for Harboro Rocks, high point of the day. (it's all down hill now)
Head South for Brassingtonand pick up Nether Lane and across fields to Crowtrees Farm and across fields to Bradbourne on Mill Lane. We then walk a short distance on the D5056 then cross White Meadow (can be soggy/wet/muddy) lets say if it's been raining it'll be wet under foot. then very flat fields leading back into Parwich and that lovey pub.

Route: We head South from the pub along the road for a few hundred yards then across fields heading for Stunstead Lane. We cross the A5012 and walk up an avenue of 'special trees' then up and over the hill of Green Low and head for Aldwick (coffee stop).
Head for Green Farm then Tithe Farm then onto the road for a short distance then pick up the track (before Haven Hoe Farm) heading for Minninglow (short stop weather permitting) then pick up the High Peak Trail and follow it till we get to Mouldridge Lane and head to the A5012 again. Keeping on the grass verge for a short section (busy road section) we head off the road and onto a field path that takes us into Elton. walking through the village and pick up the back lane into the top end of Winster and the pub.

This is an undulating route, no steep climbs but they will be stiles along the way.

Route: This route starts in Upper Hulme and first takes us on a steep climb up to Hen Cloud, with views of the Tittesworth Reservoir to the West. From here we head down towards the Roaches, and make our way along the top until we drop down and walk through some woods before reaching Luds Church. We then loop back and take a path parallel to the Roaches, but lower-level, until we reach Ramshaw Rocks then it’s back to the start in Upper Hulme.
The ascent up onto hen cloud involves a scramble with a couple of awkward bits and Gaiters are very much advised, parts are very boggy around Luds Church and over to Ramshaw Rocks.

Start Point Location: meet at the track in line with the base of Hen Cloud. There is free lay-by parking along much of this road, you may need to drive further down to find a space if you arrive later.

Route: Shining Tor walk is one of those must-do hikes in the Peak District. It’s the highest peak in the Cheshire Peak District and has beautiful views towards its neighbor Shutlingsloe, which is known as the ‘Matterhorn of Cheshire’ due to its iconic shape.
This route begins from the Derbyshire Bridge car park, takes you through the Goyt Valley before hiking up and along Foxlow Edge to Pym chair.

Route: A walk around the Chatsworth estate starting with a climb up through
the woods to the hunting tower, Emperor lake and Swiss lake. We
walk across the rabbit warren and through the woods and fields down
to Beeley. It’s an easy walk back along the river to Chatsworth House.

Route: From the car park we head West and drop down to the River Bradford and follow it towards Middleton by Youlgreave. heading up the lane then onto Whitfield Lane and Little Rookery Plantation, we then head for Kenslow Knoll (coffee stop). Route: This walk goes along much of the Sheffield Country Walk through some of Sheffield’s green belt and is a combo of tram/walk/bus. First, the tram from the station to White Lane. From there we start the walk and drop down into the very pretty Moss Valley and meander on, up and down via Troway to Coal Aston. Route: From the pub we walk through the church yard of St Giles’ and head across the fields to Rowland. Follow the lane towards Hassop Common then head West at Deep Rake following opencast workings and then head to Black Harry Gate. Cavendish Mill next and across Burnt Heath and head along the lane to Housley.

Route: This is a wander along the Derwent valley south from Matlock taking in
High Tor, Matlock Bath, Cromford, High Peak Trial, High Peak Junction
and the Cromford Canal then back thorough Matlock Bath. The route
crisscrosses the valley so there are numerous ascents and descents,
these can be steep but short – apart from the descent from Black
Rocks to High Peak Junction which is long but steady. Most of the
route is on well surfaced paths and tarmac but there are a couple of
sections through woodland which can be muddy and slippery,
particularly the descent into Cromford. The route round High Tor has
some exposure but there is an alternative route if required. I have
graded this as a 3 due to the steepness of some of these
ascents/descents and the exposure on High Tor.

Start Point Location: Hall Leys Park is the large park adjacent to the A615 and the football ground. The bandstand is in the middle of the park in front of the Café in the Park. There are public long stay pay and display car parks in the town at the station and on Matlock Bank, cost is £6 for all day. I usually road park higher up Matlock Bank or on the adjacent roads where there are no restrictions.

The toilets in the Hall Leys Park appear to be closed in January (there
are toilets at the bus station) but there are toilets at Black Rock car
park, High Peak Junction and Cromford Wharf which should be open
from what I can see.

Route: We’ll catch the tram from the Station tram stop just after 10am to Spring Lane at Arbourthorne with its excellent panorama of Sheffield and an overview of much of the route. From Arbourthorne we’ll head down into Heeley and cross Meers Brook, into Mercia, and climb up to the top of Meersbrook Park for great views of the city as we walk down to cross the Sheaf at Broadfield and, back in Northumbria, we climb up through Nether Edge and the Kenwood Estate to Sharrow Lane Top and down by the General Cemetery, crossing Porter Brook, to reach the lower entrance to the Botanical Gardens. We head up towards Broomhill then down through Crookesmoor and Neepsend before climbing up to Pitsmoor, and turning more or less 90deg, looking out over the Lower Don Valley as we drop down to cross the Don into Attercliffe and climb again up to Manor Park and Arbourthorne and catch the tram back. Refreshments in the Sheffield Tap if you want.
