Walk Name Baslow to the Rising Sun Abbey Lane (Linear)
Description This is a point-to-point walk taking in Baslow Edge, Froggatt Edge, Longshaw, Ringinglow and Ecclesall Woods. We start at Baslow where there are public toilets. The walk begins by climbing steeply up onto Baslow Edge. We will pause for a coffee just after Curbur gap (where the coffee van is usually available, though no guarantees). We will navigate north west along Froggatt Edge, past the Grouse Inn and down to Longshaw where we will stop for lunch. (Toilets available and you can also buy snacks if you want). We will continue through the Longshaw estate along Burbage Edge before joining the Houndkirk Road.
We will pause for a single beverage at the Norfolk Arms Ringinglow before heading down the Limb valley, crossing the Ecclesall Road to loop back through the woods to come out just opposite the Rising Sun. From the Rising Sun buses are available back to town along the Abbeydale Road, which is not far away.
The key risk on the walk is that the bus is late or cancelled (hence STARTING by getting the bus).

Additional Information We are getting the 218 TM bus to Baslow.
The bus starts at Sheffield Interchange at 9.40. The route takes in Moorhead (9.42), London Road/St Mary’s Gate (9.45), The Stags Head Sharrow(9.51) and Ecclesall Road South/ Dobcroft Road (9.54).

We are due to catch the 218 bus. The bus departs Pond Street Bus station Sheffield at 9.38, it passes Eccleshall Road South/Brincliffe edge at 9.54, Abbey Lane (by Cow Lane junction) at 9.58, joining the Baslow Road, then passing Totley Hall Lane
Totley at 10.06.
If you would like to park and ride then the suggested parking location is on Abbey Lane near the Rising Sun pub, catching the bus at the Abbey Lane Stop near the junction with Cow Lane.
(Note that though there is officially a stop here, it is NOT marked on the road so you might prefer to wait at the more formally marked stop on Abbeydale Road outside the Miller and CarterSteakhouse pub on Abbeydale Road). The walk leader will be
getting the bus earlier, at the stop on Eccleshall Road just past Brincliffe Edge Road.
The return walk will start from Baslow when the bus arrives, scheduled to be 10.22.
