There is a direct train from Sheffield at 08:57, calling at Meadowhall (09:03), arriving at Bempton at 11:09. There is free parking at Meadowhall Travel Interchange. I will getting on the train at Meadowhall. The return trains from Filey are every hour e.g 17:17, 18:17, 19:15, 20:17

Fares are available for advance booking either for specific trains or Off-peak day return or Anytime Day Return. It would be best to book a Sheffield - Filey return even if getting on at Meadowhall and a Railcard would be advantageous.

It is a short walk (1 1/2 miles) from Bempton to Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve). Most seabirds will have flown away out to sea for the winter but there should be Gannets. We will spend a short time at Bempton Cliffs and have lunch there. There is a cafe doing snacks and sandwiches if you don’t wish to take a packed lunch. After lunch the walk continues along the cliff top coastal path (3 miles) and then drops down to the beach at Speeton Cliffs and continues along the beach (4 miles) to Filey. Low tide is at 1:45 pm and High tide is at 7:45 pm so it should be possible to walk along the beach. There are toilets at Hunmanby Gap and Filey promenade. There should be time for Fish and Chips and a beer or two in Filey before the train home. There are direct trains back to Sheffield - the return journey is about 2 hours 20 min).

This walk is not suitable for dogs.

Arrive early so you are not having to rush for the train.

Please wear suitable clothing & footwear for this time of year. If the weather is hot make sure you have sunscreen with you and a hat.
Bring refreshments & a packed lunch.
