Walk Name | Summer Solstice Sunset 2023 from Arbourthorne Lookout |
Description | An evening walk to celebrate the summer solstice and catch the sunset from Arbourthorne Lookout. The route follows 5 miles of the recently republished An Inner City Round Walk of Sheffield by veteran Rambler Terry Howard. We start at the top entrance of Sheffield's Botanic Gardens and drop down to the General Cemetery then up to Sharrow Lane Top & through the Kenwood Estate. We descend down through Nether Edge to cross the Sheaf and ascend up through Meersbrook Park before dropping down to the Meersbrook and then up to Heeley Common, down across East Bank Rd before the final climb up to Arbourthorne Lookout. Mostly in gardens, parks, green spaces or quieter paths and roads. Then we catch the tram back from Spring Lane into town to take refreshments in a venue of our choice and/or pick up transport home. |
