Day Sunday
Date 23/04/2023
Start Time 10:00 am
Walk Name Walk, nav and natter
Description The walk begins at Fairholmes and then heads uphill to Rowlee Pasture with views over to the Kinder Scout plateau. From there we head over to the site of England’s largest landslip, Alport Castles, which gets its name from the imposing gritstone tower and surrounding jumble of boulders that formed after the last ice age. Then it’s a lovely amble over to Rowlee Bridge and Woodcock Coppice before we drop back down to Fairholmes. On the way, we’ll show you a couple of simple navigation techniques using a map and a compass that’ll help you to break free from the guidebooks.
