MEETING:

The meeting point will normally be at the start of the walk as detailed in the programme. We suggest people use the message board to share lifts. We will endeavour to supply details of public transport to get you to the start of a walk but if you need help the walk leader should be able to advise..

Saturday 13th March

 

Froggatt Edge  

 

Start off along Froggatt edge great views down into Baslow following the river Derwent then back to the car park. oppurtunities for a drink on the way round and maybe at the Grouse inn at the end of the walk.

Sunday 14th March

 

Black Hill  

 

We go up Hey Moss to Westend Moss. Then to Tooleyshaw Moor and then Black Hill. We return to Crowden via the Pennine Way. It will be muddy on Black Hill be warned!

Saturday 20th March

 

Barber Booth Circular  

 

Starting at Barber Booth we head for the Pennine Way climbing up onto kinder Scout via Jacob’s Ladder. We walk along the edge of Kinder Scout to Nether More or were ever we fancy! We rejoin the Pennine Way back to Barber Booth

Sunday 21st March

 

Peaks of the Upper Dove  

 

A walk amongst the distinctive former reef knolls of the upper Dove Valley starting from the ancient hilltop village of Longnor. From Longnor we head down to the Dove Valley towards Hollinsclough and down to the Dove. We then head up towards Chrome Hill, which we ascend quite steeply before walking along an exposed ridge. After enjoying the fine views of the Dove valley we descend steeply on a grass slope from the summit before following a lane uphill. A short steep path then leads us up to Earl Sterndale before descending back to the Dove Valley before the final climb back up to Longnor for a well earned cup of tea and cake in the Craft Centre or a pint in one of the pubs.

Park where you can safely in Longnor as it can get busy at times The ground will be boggy in places and there are steep ascents and descents. Route may vary depending on weather conditions.

Sunday 28th March

 

Eyam and beyond  

 

The walk heads north out of Eyam, and drops down to Stoke Ford. From there, the walk heads towards Highlow wood, Highlow Hall and Offerton Hall. Then its up and over Offerton moor down to Abney. From there, walk to Bretton Clough and up to the Barrel at Bretton. From the Barrel, its back to Eyam.

Additional Information

 

There is a free walkers car park behind the main Eyam car park where they charge. Don’t ask me how that’s works! You can also park on the road by the car park. This walk takes in undulating terrain, with many inclines, but the views are worth it. There will be a well earned drink stop at the Barrel at Bretton. If anybody does not want to stop at the pub, it is easy to navigate yourself back to Eyam.

Sunday 4th April

 

Linacre - Holmesfield  

 

From Linacre Reservoir we meander past Pratt Hall on our way to the Royal Oak at before returning via Hewitt's Bank and Slatepit Lane for a quick circuit of the reservoir.
